The summer program at Young Child Science Discovery is designed for children from 4 years to 7 years old. The classroom environment is structured to provide a blend of child directed time and teacher directed time for each unit. Child directed activities include hands-on science materials, thematic books, puzzles, games, art projects, and manipulatives. All summer science classes are offered in 1 week sessions, with a morning and afternoon option. Classes with consecutive sessions, such as OCEANS I and OCEANS II, may be taken independently, and address different material. For example, a child taking both courses would not repeat material, and a child taking only OCEANS II would not be at a disadvantage from missing OCEANS I. For example, some scientists hypothesize (guess logically) that triceratops made a defensive circle when threatened because musk oxen behave that way today. This behavior concept is a logical guess. It is a fact that numerous triceratops fossils contain broken triceratops horn fragments mixed in with the body, so we know that triceratops fought triceratops.
